  1. First Impressions

I haven't kept anyone here terribly updated on my year so far, mostly because the blogs that I had written weren't suitable to post as I thought they either didn't contain anything of real value or insight to you all or there were a number of confidentiality/privacy issues. I still kept writing them - because it's a good outlet, and I recommend everyone tries it - but just stopped posting them. Well, now that I'm finished for the semester I can think about this a bit more and try put something down ...

  2. Reflections

Before I write anything about myself I feel the need to wish everyone affected by the onslaught of disasters in these last few months a quick recovery. The current situation in Japan is heartbreaking, scrolling through photos and digging through videos I can't imagine the true reality of the situation. I realised today that I didn't actually bring any shoes with me other than dress shoes and thongs, I also realised that just because it didn't rain once for the entire time I was here last year doesn't mean that I shouldn't have brought an umbrella or clothes that can get wet. Or perhaps I should have remembered to bring socks, and at least some form of cutlery and bowl to cook Mi Goreng ...

  4. Arrivals

I've been absent from my normal activities on MSO the last couple weeks, mostly due to two things: Cyclone Yasi and moving into Uni at Townsville. The former was pretty scary and involved a whole lot of packing things up and then unpacking them again... kind of almost exactly like the latter. This blog will be the start of my commentary on med and life at uni which I'll try to maintain mostly for my own personal interest(I think it'll be hilarious to look back on) but also because I think some of ...

  5. Changes

Last week in a comment under my blog I said, "I feel as though once I'm in and have some sort of grasp on what the future holds it'll be easier - almost like I'll get used to change."

Well, it's been a week since I left now. A week since I packed up my clothes and computer and drove to my new house, my new (temporary)home. I can't say it's been a journey of amazing freedom or terrifyingly loneliness and isolation, but I can say it's been different. Not a different lifestyle ...
