Life of a Med Student

I have to say, med school really is hard to get into. People weren't joking when they said that. They even said, and constantly reiterated, how difficult it will be to become a med student, then an intern, a resident, a consultant, how it will take more than 10 years to become an actual doctor (blah blah blah) and suggested I do something different..
And also, this online blogger showed me how very very bad it was to go to med school. Very encouraging I know.
But having only imagined being in different careers when I was a kid (at one stage I wrote books because I wanted to be an author... I wrote 3 pages), I never actually aspired to really become something. Something that I knew I would want to do, would be happy to be doing, and would be happy to have done. That's when med came along.
Med saved me from a dire situation that almost every teenager once falls into during their lifetime- What do I want to do? Where do I want do be? What is my dream?

And through this very tiring, and pretty much, the awesomest part of my life yet, I've once more learnt that Med is really what I've been wanting to do, and is what I'm meant for. Each step only works to emphasize this. And the best part? This is just the beginning. Knowing that all of this has just passed, and even more is about to come? That's just cool.

Besides. When you start to look forward to starting school, after 18 years of trying to avoid it? That just tells me something amazing is waiting behind those doors to med school.

So to all you MSOers, lurkers, random watchers who happen to come across my blog as med-hopefuls, don't lose hope! To all those who have received an offer? Congratulations, and I'll see you folks as interns in 6 years! And to those who didn't make it, let my post be of some inspiration to remember to keep trying. I've had my fair share of ups-and-downs (though not as nearly as much as some people have had here on MSO (and btw guys, you guys are legends. RESPECT)), and it has definitely been worth the wait and impatient bursts of frustration.

Night MSO, and I'll see you guys tomorrow. ^^

A nice entry dlehddud, and one of things I too like about med is the sense of a direction.
