When people ask me what medicine is like or how's it going, I invariably return a non-commital answer or just a shrug. People see medicine as the green grass on the other side of the hill or the land of rainbows and unicorns but in many ways, it simply isn't true. Now I've copped a lot of flak from some members on this forum (at the time, studying non-med courses) for saying that med is definitively more difficult in some ways than other courses, there are a lot more stressors than just getting ...

Gosh this blog only seems to get updated when I'm bored. Oh well, something for me to do and something for you to read I guess. Win for everyone? I know my last entry scared a lot of the newbies so hopefully this one is a bit happier

As I've alluded to in my previous entry, Into the Deep, there seems to be a certain social stigma associated with studying medicine. I'll attempt to elaborate a little more on this topic in this post, keeping in mind of course that this is just my opinion ...

It's interesting the way life works. I can understand why people don't like change, the way everything's going well and then you're thrown into a completely unknown and new situation to start again - being totally sure of what you're doing, who you are and what your role is only to be again thrown off kilter. A medical career really does highlight this point. Let's take my experiences as an example - excuse me if I digress every now and again.

Throughout most of high school, I knew ...

Yeah its been ages since I've blogged. Not because I haven't had anything to rant about, there's plenty actually - asylum seekers burning buildings, crazy truck drivers, drunken morons, the list goes on with things that irritate, astound or make me angry (in no particular order) - but I figured there was more productive uses of my time. I could watch TV, read magazines, hit the Xbox or go out and be eaten by a mountain lion; all far more useful uses of my lazy arvos and nights. I will make an exception ...
