This guide is intended only as a guide and NOT as an exhaustive resource on admission into the UWS MBBS program. Please check the below dates (links are mostly provided) for your own reference.

      MBBS Categories

      Local Applicants
Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents and New Zealand citizens.

      International Applicants
All applicants other than Australian citizens, Australian Permanent Residents or New Zealand citizens - either onshore or offshore.

Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Applicants
Eligible applicants may apply under this scheme - please visit the ATSI site for further information.

      Advanced Science Pathway
Applicants who complete Year 1 (full time) of any of the three Advanced Science courses (Science, Medical Science or Natural Sciences) will be considered for an interview if they achieve a GPA of 5.5 or more, achieve 50 percentile or more in UMAT and have met all mandatory requirements of the Advanced Science course as advised by the Head of Program. There are a total of six spaces available for interview in this category (six in total, not six per course). · if there are more eligible applicants than there are places, the ISAT results will be used to rank applicants. Please ensure that you have completed theInternational Student Admissions Test (ISAT), a scholastic aptitude test created and administered by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER), which is run several times each year in many countries.

The School will seek to provide access to early cultural support and assistance with colloquial Australian English.

      How to Apply
Applications close on 31st August, 2012
ALL International applicants (onshore OR offshore) including those currently undertaking Year 12 in Australia, should apply via the UWS International Office.

Applicants who have partially completed a medical degree at an overseas institution will be required to commence in Year 1 of the MBBS if eligible for an offer. International students are NOT offered academic credit for the Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery.

If an International student obtains Australian permanent residency or New Zealand citizenship before enrolling in the program OR prior to the census date of the first semester of the program, the International offer of a place in the MBBS (or the enrolment) will lapse and the student must re-apply as a local student.

If an International student obtains Australian permanent residency or New Zealand citizenship AFTER census date of the first semester of the program (or after census date of any subsequent semester), the student will be seen as having entered into a contract with the University to pay international fees for that semester. For the following and subsequent semesters, the student's status will change to that of a local student and provided they meet other progression criteria, they will be eligible for a domestic full fee paying place in the MBBS.
