    Anatomy & Physiology (simpler texts)
Saladin; Anatomy & Physiology - The Unity of Form and Function 3e
Marieb; Human Anatomy & Physiology 4e

    Anatomy:
    Whitaker, Borley; Instant Anatomy 2e
Moore, Dalley; Clinically Oriented Anatomy 5e
Rohen, Yokochi, L?tjen-Drecoll; Color Atlas of Anatomy 4e (college library)
Netter; Atlas of Human Anatomy (college library)

    Physiology:
Guyton, Hall; Textbook of Medical Physiology 10e

    Biochemistry:
    Pratt, Cornely; Essential Biochemistry
Nelson, Cox; Lehninger Principles of Biochemistry 4e
    Garrett, Grisham; Biochemistry 2e

    Embryology:
Larsen; Human Embryology (borrowed from friend)
Sweeney; Basic Concepts in Embryology - A Student's Survival Guide

    Dictionaries
    Stedman's Medical Dictionary 27e
    Oxford Concise Australian Dictionary 3e

That's all so far, I am planning on purchasing Baby Robbins when the new edition (7e) comes out in a few months, and then upgrading to Big Robbins when 8e is released around 2007. I could spend less and get an old edition now, but I don't need the detail until third year so Baby Robbins is a better deal. Also thinking of getting Student Gray's, but money is an issue and I have the two "acquired" tomes from the library to tide me over until at least the end of the year. Good thing nobody from college is on this forum. :P

I can't be;ieve the number of books I've bought for Medicine so far.

I'll see if I can recount them all:

    1st year
    ---------
Anatomy and Physiology - Tortora and Grabowski
    Netter's Atlast of Anatomy
    Wheater's Function Histology
    Histology and Cell Biology
    Clinicall Oriented Antomy
    Medical Embryology
Another Clinical anatomy book (which is really old but I picked it up for cheap at a second hand book sale)
    Dorland's Medical Dictionary

    2nd year
    ----------
    Pathophysiology of Heart Disease
    Pulmonary Pathophysiology
    Vander's Renal Physiology
Robbin's Pathological Basis of Disease (Big one)
Robbin's Pathological Basis of Disease (Pocket)
    Functional Histopathology
    GIT book (can't remember name)
    Pharmacology - Rang and Dale
Human Physiology book (can't remember name, but it is very good and I got it for cheap at a second hand book sale)
EDIT: Forgot Immunology by Nairn and Helbert

    3rd year
    ----------
Talley and O'Connor Clinical Examination (Big one)
Talley and O'Connor Clinical Examination (Pocket)
    Nolte's The Human Brain
    Clinical Microbiology
    Clinical Microbiology Made Ridiculously Simple

and I'm supposed to buy some more books for this semester that I haven't even thought about yet.

To top it all off, we still have to print a fair bit of notes during the year as well

    Also bought Netter's Flash Cards.

That's 23 books (if I've counted right) and I may have forgotten some!

Havent bought a book for 1.5 years. I borrow from the library. Books I love are Robbins Pathology, Talley and O Connor, Davidsons Book of Medicine.

    Great internet resources are:
    http://www.emedicine.com
    http://www.gpnotebook.com
    http://www.bmjlearning.com
    http://www.bmj.com

Personally, there isnt a day in my medical life that I go without using emedicine. Its up to date, and a fantastic resource.

Unbelieveable Isuru. Man you have bought so many books. I bet they look great on your book shelf. I would love to own your collection. I never bought half of those books. They are pretty expensive. How did you get your hands on Clinical Microbiology Made Ridiculously simple. Many people were trying to get their hands on one of those books for months when in 3/4th yr. Its the best Micro book of all time.

Nolte's the Human Brain is a killer, although I have made a mini book based on this book for Neuroscience. I intend to bind my notes, and just hand it out to future 3rd years. :-)

Hello my fellow UMelb Year 1 meddy.

Just by the recommended Moore's clinical, and I gather you already have Anatomedia?

If doubts arise, just buy Moore's clinical AND Grey's student edition - can't go wrong :P

I heard Netter's Atlas is also pretty good - but slightly more expensive thought ($209, if I can recall correctly).
