Posted 28-07-10 09:29 PM Chance of Interviews (and offers 2010 Thread)
Hi,
Sorry to bring up a slightly unrelated thread but I thought that there was some relevance.
I just did the UMAT today and think that I stuffed it up pretty royally.
I'm rural (very rural-RA of 5 i think) and have a predicted enter/atar of 94-97.
Do I still have a chance of getting in anywhere for undergraduate med? If so, where would be my best shot would you say? I also think that I will go quite well in the interview, but then again so does everybody.
Thanks in advance for your help- it's appreciated.
Cheers,
Pete

Posted 28-07-10 09:38 PM If you're rural, then your UMAT doesn't have to be very high anyway mate! Just wait for the results before writing yourself off

Posted 28-07-10 09:48 PM Thanks Havox,
Maybe I'm just wearing my pessimistic pants atm.
I had heard that the cutoff for some (or most unis) is the same for the umat. Therefore if I don't get the umat score, I might not get an offer.
What uni would be my best chance? UAde? Flinders? JMP (uncle/une)?
Cheers

Posted 28-07-10 09:53 PM One of the non-UMAT unis, I'm not sure which ones they are though, escaping my memory atm. Someone here will definitely know though.

Posted 29-07-10 05:41 PM Cheers. Could anyone list any statistics from older years of people getting into JC or unsw or Adelaide with low results because they are rural?
Any advice for what to do now?
Thanks again, to anyone who replies.

Posted 29-07-10 06:20 PM unsw has a really low umat cutoff for rural students (~25%ile i think, if you get a really high atar), whilst neither JCU nor Griffith consider the UMAT so those would have to be your best bets.
I love mana. And I am perfect.
