I agree, it could very well be seen as such. As I said before, though, in the past, it's been poorly enforced, and there have been MSOers who have taken this pathway, and entered Medicine/Dentistry that way.

There is nothing wrong with taking umat early. as long as its your final year of school.
Over here in New Zealand, I took umat in year 12, just to see how it was. My Intentions at the time were to leave straight for university a year ahead in the event that I got a high mark.
Unfortunately, I only got 69th percentile, so I stayed for another year.
With regards to acer, I emailed them describing my situation, and they said that if my intentions at the time was to leave, then I would be able to sit it again with no problem, however my year 12 marks could not be used.
The normal way things go down is that, on your second try, you'd get the principle of the school to sign a statement saying that you had initially planned to leave, but you didn't because you didn't meet some requirements/didnt get marks you want/etc. And post that over to acer.
Hope this helped.
@Bacon : That probably works in NZ because of the different year12/13 thing, but I don't think you can request that clearance from ACER for Australian students just for future knowledge. Here, if you leave in year 11 you're not eligible for an ATAR, ie. you don't have any school qualifications past year 10 (12 is the furthest the Australian system goes). Someone correct me if I'm wrong? But good to know you can do that in NZ nonetheless!![]()
