    UMAT 100 percentiles?

If you get 100 percentiles and an ATAR of 99.00 (or OP 1, etc) does this mean that you are guaranteed?

I have got mid 80s and one of my friends got 100. I am just jealous.

No, you can still manage to gimp out in an interview - nothing is guaranteed until you get your offer. With a 100th percentile and good ATAR though you'd have to screw something up.
Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple.

Interview will truly determine if you are accepted or not, though they count to a degree, UMAT and ATAR are just ways to reduce the amount of candidates for the interview (in most cases).

Mid 80's is a pretty good UMAT score so I wouldn't be too concerned that your friend beat you. If you get into med/dent/any uni degree, there will always be someone better than you.

This. I had 99.85 ATAR and 96th percentile UMAT last year and failed to get into any undergraduate med courses (i only applied for 2 unis though >.>). I think this is pretty much the equivalent of the 99.0 ATAR and 100th percentile UMAT that was asked in the original post whether it is guaranteed a spot. I can't shake the feeling that ATAR and UMAT only determine whether you receive an inteview offer and not contribute to determining whether you can secure the actual medicine place, even though the unis say otherwise :P

Interview = life saver! - definitely not something to be taken lightly no matter how good your marks are.

Yep, I had zero medical experience, zero volunteering, zero work experience and certainly not the right mindset/motivations going into my interviews. Just goes to show how important these all are for the interview component, presumably.

My friend had same UMAT score but 99.9 ATAR, he also couldn't get into UNSW med, from what I know he was pretty much in the same boat as me interview-wise.

Moral of the story, don't count on your marks and academics!
