It is designed to see how well you interpret people and their feelings; in past experiences however; I haven’t regularly had conversations with a piece of paper that has complex emotions with which my aim is to uncover. So I sit there- ask the piece of paper how he feels and colour in a bubble hoping for the best.

Yes the UMAT is restricted to evaluating the ability of applicants to ascertain emotion from text. I don't feel that that is a useless skill to test given how modern technology has made a large chunk of our communication very text heavy. Yes, as a doctor you will need to understand emotion in a physical setting with direct interaction with the subject but that doesn't mean S2 is invalid at determing an applicants quality for med school. Candidates for medicine should be able to discern and evaluate emotions communicated via various means from body language (which is what interviews and MIMS try and evaluate) to oral/verbal (interviews) to text (UMAT S2). Communication is a key attribute to test and I think S1 and S2 of the UMAT play a crucial role in evaluating candidates based on their ability to understand test-based communication which I hazzard is just as important an ability to test as holding up a good conversation for the 30 or whatever minutes during a verbal interview.

Hi kaushik, you can make offtopic tages by writing [OFFTOPIC*] text that is offtopic [/OFFTOPIC*] (without the *)

I have done this for you

And yes, you do to get 5 posts. Why don't you stick around for a while and collect 5 good quality posts
