Posted 04-10-11 11:18 AM Interview offers are based on actual scores, not percentiles. Also, in regards to your original question, each person finds the UMAT different. Some people ace it on their first go without any sort of prep, while others struggle to get a good score with prep and after sitting the test multiple times. We can't say what the chances are of getting a good UMAT score on your first go. It all depends on you.

Posted 04-10-11 11:34 AM Each uni requires a different UMAT, and it changes every year based on the applicants. Have a look around, you will find out the answers.
As for how many times read here: http://www.medstudentsonline.com.au/...e-you-sat-UMAT

What is the UMAT percentile needed to get an interview?
Is the UMAT harder than the Interview?
How many times have you guys sat it before you got an offer?
Thanks
Well since around 10% of applicants get a score they're happy with, I'd put the odds at around 1/10
But of course, the 'difficulty' of UMAT is subjective, and everyone finds different parts of it more/less difficult. Predicting your performance is difficult/impossible, unfortunately.

Posted 04-10-11 11:47 AM I can probably already predict your score.
S1: Males > Females. White's tend to do slightly better than non-white
S2: Females >> Males. White's (in 99.9% of cases) tend to do better than non-whites.
S3: Males > Females. Non-whites (especially asians and indians) tend to do better.
I'm not being racially or sexually discriminating, I'm simply stating trends that I've observed.

On the whole, this ^ is fairly true. (Obviously it doesn't hold true for everyone, I'm a bloke and section 2 was my best lol)

Posted 04-10-11 11:52 AM That seems a hard point to make based simply on annecdotes.
I've personally seen the opposite be true more often than not.
Suffice to say, just try your hardest and see what happens. Getting a high UMAT can take the edge of needing a high interview score in some institutions but without a UMAT you won't get any interviews at all. So take it seriously when it comes time to sit it next year.
