Sorry I can't rememeber how much my books cost. You can buy them second hand from past students from signs around uni and I think the uni has a special website for it (I will see if I can find it for you). I bought all the textbooks in first year and I wish i didn't i think i spent $150 on a physics textbook i never used (you don't have to do this subject anymore for dent yay!). I didn't use the one for cell bio either (now called Genes and Disease). My most used text book was Human Anatomy and Physiology 8th edition (I used this for 3 or more subjects) followed by my chem text book (i only used this in first semester as it had questions to do) and I think I bought these 2 texts in a pack together. There are lecture notes for most first year subjects (A MUST HAVE) unless you want to print it yourself but it is really cheap to buy from the bookshop. Another note is that the bookshop gives you a discount if you have joined the student union (I saved more money than i spent on the joining fee so I would advise joining if you plan to buy everything new).

Will the university advise which books are required (compulsory) or not ?

The compulsory books can be found in the course profile/outline and most lectures mention what to get in the first lectures of the semester.

You will in some form just not an entire semester just on boring pointless physics you will probably never use :P. The 1001MSC is new and I am assuming it will be more chem than physics. I was talking about Biophysics and Quantitative Biology 1002pes. I actually liked physics in year 12 and found that subject to be easier than my VCE year 12 physics. I really gained nothing.

The bookshop at the Parklands campus also has all of the textbooks and any other printed material required listed in printouts on the shop window for all Griffith courses. Study notes do run out so get in quick. O-week should be fine.

Are the printed material and study notes just lecture notes? Or are they both different resources all together?
Are those 2 material exclusively available at particular campus bookstores only?
