How to write a clinical review note
Aside from an admission note or a progress note the other type of entry in the notes worth familiarising yourself with is the clinical review note. In NSW hospitals a nurse will call the junior doctor to review their patient if any of their observations do not fall ‘between the flags’ (high ADDs score in QLD), but a nurse may ask to review the patient for other reasons such as a high blood sugar ...

Everyone develops their own style for writing in the notes but these symbols and diagrams are fairly commonly recognised and effectively give a lot of information very quickly.

As a medical student on the wards you’re allowed to slowly take on some responsibility for ward work and one of the things you can really be of help with is writing in the notes. While this sounds like a simple task, and is a simple task, it’s one that can be done well or done poorly. In particular I remember during my pre-internship term the fellow writing in the notes for the consultant ward-round and being stunned by how efficient and ...

You may not have noticed but MSO has undergone a few changes recently... After all that downtime I'm happy to reveal the refreshed MSO style! With that you will notice a brand new homepage that we hope you'll find more useful than the last. During this downtime we also upgrade our server so we hope you don't experience too many slow downs now (but no promises, hehe).

There are a couple of new features sprinkled throughout the new design but I'll let you discover them for yourself. A major new upgrade though is our new search function. ...

As some of you may have already noticed, we've implemented a new 'likes' system on MSO. If you visit any other forums you may have seen the same system before. This likes system is completely separate from the current Facebook likes system and is fully contained to MSO. This new 'likes' is not so much about sharing content, as the Facebook system is, and is more about making it easy to find important information on MSO.

Now here's a brief intro so you know what to do and why you should do it!

Liking posts is easy! Hover over a post and the like button ...

MSO user frootloop reflects on his time spent as a HSFY at Uni Otago including the papers he sat, the college he stayed at, and how he found the year as a whole. Interesting reading for the budding HSFY as they contemplate entering the circus of medical (and other health professional) school admission.

Time for my very subjective impressions of Otago university's health-sciences first year course. Any good grammar is not intentional, ...
