Default College food vouchers and off-campus accommodation rent enquiry - 08-02-10, 02:02 PM

Hey guys!

I heard from others that you can buy a pass to eat at colleges or something! To those who are living in college at Newcastle, what's the food like?? Which college offers the best food? Can you go eat there even if you're not a college student?

Also, for those who live off-campus and rent rooms. I'm from Sydney and would be going home during the holidays, so was wondering if I sign a 1 yr lease, do I still need to pay the rent for the time that I'm not there? What usually happens?

Thanks so much for your help!

You will probably need to sign a 12 month lease, and yes you pay rent the whole time even if you aren't there.

hey birmingham

i'm living at edwards hall this year. guests can eat there but its $10 a meal - and i'm pretty sure (like 90% sure) that u can get a student meal pass or something so that you only have to pay something along the lines of $7??

the food is pretty good, but i tell you what - we will definitely be beach balls when we return home for easter.

the meals are standard weekly rotation ones. for e.g. mondays you have the choice of parmigiana, lasagne or spag bol; tues something like a choice of snitzchel, hamburger or battered fish and chips....

you see my point.....

hope this was helpful

and aallsssooo, since there's a few of us med kids in ted's hall, i'm sure you'll make friends with *at least* () one of us, and so will spend a fair amount of time with them bumming round in the halls.... :P

Theoretically at least, but the ladies there are really nice, I've eaten there before and not been charged. Mind you it might be different if you do it everyday.

For what it's worth.
15 months 'til graduation.

ugh! beach balls indeed! That's like getting takeout every night...

What are the vegetarian options like? I find vegetarian options are usually the best way to circumvent fatty foods!
